Omar Faison

Background

Omar Faison is based out of the Richmond, VA area. A house fan since the early ’90s, Omar began djing in 1996 and since that time has held several residencies across VA and Washington, DC, and has played venues from NYC to Miami to Chicago and Detroit to San Diego and San Francisco. Influenced by DJs such as Mark Farina, Kerri Chandler, Kenny Dope, Joe Claussel, and Osunlade, as well as Washington DC’s Sam “The Man” Burns, Omar’s sets are a mix of Deep, Soulful, and Afro House flavors. Since September 2015, Omar has been resident on a weekly mix show, “Southern Housepitality,” on Mondays at 10 am on DanceGruv Radio.

Most recently, Omar was a resident at 2 Richmond area events, Flow and Chocolate Sundays. In 2012, Omar began Flow, a series of house events around the Richmond area. In its final iteration, Flow was held monthly on 2nd Saturdays at Emilio’s in Richmond, VA. In August 2018, Omar started Chocolate Sundays, a monthly house music day party also held at Emilio’s, as a place for the House heads who don’t do the late nights as much anymore and to welcome the next generation into the sound. Both events ended in 2019, and Omar is mostly focused on mix shows, one-offs, and guest appearances.
